Announcing A Two-Volume Interspirituality Book Series

Interspirituality: The Heritage

Interspirituality: The Future (including a chapter written by Jeanette Banashak)

The Spiritual Guidance Training Institute (SGTI) is excited to share two new book releases: Interspirituality: The Heritage and Interspirituality: The Future (Light on Light Press) including an opening message by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and an afterword by Ken Wilber.

In these two volumes, over 120 authors contributed to the history and imagination of a global spirituality. Our co-founder and director, Jeanette Banashak, wrote a chapter for Interspirituality: the Future that opens the section Dimensions of Sacred Activism. Dr. Banashak explores themes of interspirituality, intersectionality, and the natural world and offers practices and ways of being to connect with nature.

An excerpt from the chapter is below.

“In her preface of The Mystic Heart (1999), Beatrice Bruteau suggested that in the Interspiritual Age, we will choose nonviolence in support of each other, rather than harm (p. xvii). It is my experience and belief that through an understanding of intersectionality, and by participating in practices such as natural meditation and forest bathing, our appreciation, care, and love of nature will increase, as well as our activity in eco/environmental justice. Let us include our more-than-human kin, the trees, birds, insects, flowers, and every being that ever was, is, and will be into our appreciation of what it means to be human beings who live on this planet we call Earth.”

If you are interested in learning more about the themes Jeanette writes about, we invite you to check out our Nature Companionship program. Recognized by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy, this training program is about deepening relationship and reciprocity with the natural world and guiding others to do the same.
