We are pleased to present a selection of SGTI students & alumni who are serving the world of interfaith/interspiritual companionship in exciting new ways.

The term “spiritual independent” refers to one who is religiously unaffiliated or loosely so. This characterizes who I have been throughout much of my life, although I am now a member of a spiritual community. It comes as no surprise, then, that people who are drawn to me for spiritual guidance largely fit this description or lean toward a progressive or liberal approach to their spirituality.
What attracts them, I feel, is the interspiritual focus I bring to my interactions.  This suggests that perennial wisdom serves as the taproot from which I deliver guidance to others.  This wisdom emerges from the great contemplatives of the world -- cutting across time, cultures, and religious traditions.  The common threads from these sources direct us in living our lives well.

The insights I have gleaned from the experiences and challenges of my own life also inform my work. These, in their wake, have brought with them the gifts of humility, resiliency, openness, and compassion – qualities of heart that are essential for a spiritual guide.

The reasons for seeking guidance are many and varied. A person might be searching for answers to the big questions of life that most of us share: How should I live? Why is there suffering? What is my life's purpose? One may also wonder about the spiritual significance of events from everyday life: awe-inspiring moments, the need to forgive (or to seek forgiveness), feelings of gratitude, a sense of disconnection, a life transition, a chronic illness, etc.

I believe that spiritual guidance nurtures a person’s relationship to a Higher Power (whatever that is perceived to be). One receives greater clarity regarding the meaning, direction, and impact of his or her life.   As a spiritual guide, I bring the gifts of deep listening, reflective questions, and guided practices and activities to the process of helping clients make the connection to something larger than themselves.

This happens with guidance that is delivered individually or in a group, in person or in a virtual setting.  Whatever the means, I am honored and humbled to bear witness to spiritual growth that transforms people’s lives.

Kathleen Opon - Alumni

With an open and loving heart I humbly introduce myself as a Certified Spiritual Guide. What does that mean to me? It means serving and honoring the Divine by serving and honoring people of all spiritual paths seeking a deeper relationship with “something larger than themselves”. It means walking beside those on a spiritual path that is clear to them as well as those who feel lost or confused or undecided, holding space for all in the unfolding of their Divine truth.

My own spiritual journey began in Catholicism; traveled through the mysticism of Eastern religions; wound through the earthy wonder of Nature Based Religions; eventually arriving at my spiritual home in contemplative Druidry. My deep desire to serve the Divine led me to the Gnostic Celtic Church, the religious branch of the Ancient Order of Druids in America. It has manifested in my ordination as a Druid Priestess as well as my moving into the position of Preceptor of the Church, where I will serve as mentor, teacher, and guide for potential clergy as well as the group as a whole. In fact, it was during my own discernment process that the desire to become a Spiritual Guide emerged. And here I am.

I am very excited as I begin this new chapter of my life as a Spiritual Guide and I look forward to working with people of all faiths. However, I must confess to a soft spot for spiritual independents who, like myself, seek their own personal spiritual truth. I am available for in-person Spiritual Guidance in my home about 45 minutes southwest of Chicago, Illinois and via video chat using Zoom or Facetime.

For more information please contact me through my website: https://infinitepathways.squarespace.com
I look forward to hearing from you!
