Welcome to Module 10!
In this module, we will begin our inter-religious exploration of:
As you will discover, Buddhism, like all the wisdom traditions we have studied thus far, has many branches and sects. Some followers may consider it to be a religion, while others prefer to think of it as an ethical tradition. For this module, we will be primarily focusing on Buddhism as it has made its way into Western culture.
Buddhism has a strong history of spiritual guidance though it is not called that, and plays out differently. Today, many (Western) individuals may come to spiritual guidance (as you may already have experienced), with an interest in Buddhism, and are unsure where to begin. This module may provide information and insights to help you support them in their search.
Our “Pure Presence” model of listening is actually rooted in the practices of mindfulness and self-compassion which are sourced in Buddhist tradition.

Once you leave a comment or question, be sure to put a check mark in the box that says you wish to be notified of responses. When someone comments on the module, you will receive notification of their response in your e-mail inbox. We will be checking in regularly to address comments.
Please try to post module-based questions here, rather than sending us a separate e-mail. It will be easier to keep Q & A in one place, so everyone benefits. Of course, if you have a question of a more personal nature, please e-mail us.
We hope you will check in once each week to let us know how you are doing and to connect with your classmates.
Let the conversation begin! We welcome your thoughts and look forward to chatting it up with you!
