With special guest, activist Rev. Jamie Frazier,
Founder of The Lighthouse Foundation
Founder of The Lighthouse Foundation
SGTI is pleased to offer this webinar on how we can provide spiritual guidance and wise, compassionate care to to individuals and groups who identify as LGBTQIA.
Webinar Content
In the first episode of this 3-part webinar, Jeanette and Beth explore sexual and gender identities, ways to engage with seekers on the LGBTQIA spectrum, critical questions to ask yourself as a companion, best practices for providing spiritual care, the complexities of identifying as something, and our own stories of becoming. We also reflect on our own issues, challenges, and strengths when it comes to understanding what is involved in companioning someone who identifies on the LGBTQIA spectrum.
In parts 2 and 3, Jeanette and Beth are joined by special guest, Rev. Jamie Frasier, a black queer pastor and activist from Chicago, USA. We discuss what it means to be an accomplice to human flourishing by identifying and working through our blind spots of homophobia, racism, and transphobia. We consider awareness, ownership, dismantling, and reconstruction as specific strategies that spiritual companions can use in relationships with their clients. The lively and insightful conversation ultimately points to hope and the need to do our own work as spiritual guides.
